In October 2008, a study revealed:
- 65 percent of online video viewers stream content between 9am - 5pm Monday through Friday.
- Over 5.5 million videos were streamed from the Youtube and Yahoo (the only 2 listed in the top 10 that allow UGC)
- Overall time per viewer increased by 10 percent

Now unless high school kids are being given time to watch video during school hours, it looks like the viewers watching during work hours aren’t just teens looking for Lucas Cruikshank (Fred) and music videos. Given this information, I thought I might ask how some of you intend to adjust your schedule to accommodate your audience?

Here are a couple of ideas:

Use the free YouTube Insight tool to view statistics about your videos. Check out how often your videos are viewed in different geographic regions and how popular they are relative to all videos in that market over a given period of time. You can also see how long it takes for a video to become popular, and what happens to video views as popularity peaks. From this info, create an upload schedule.

Chose a day and time to make regular vlog posts and stick to it if you can. Soon your viewers will know when you post new videos, look forward to them and hopefully pass them on. Do not underestimate how powerful this step can be.

Integrate Email, Blogging and Social Networking to broadcast your new video post and generate buzz.

This year video will be HOT. I hope to see you in the game.
