Welcome back!

I recently watched a video featuring social psychologist Sam Gosling in which he examined what an individual’s online networking profile can reveal about their personality. It was very interesting to hear him talk about whether a person was using the site to project an image or simply using it as form of communication. When they conducted research they found that most people ARE in fact using it as a form of communication, like a telephone, and they have NO IDEA how people view them.

My friend Nancy Marmolejo felt Social Networking profiles were so important to online visibility and credibility, she recently lead one of her killer webinars on the subject.

I immediately thought of a social profile in terms of online video share sites. I would definitely agree that most people want to use video as a means of communication but have NO IDEA how they are perceived by others.

Julie Mayden is a fictional character in a new book by my client, author Robin Rice. Here is her online video profile:

I think this video says a lot about Julie.

What does yours say about you?

I created this video to demonstrate how Youtube has made it super easy to embed a custom video player.

If you go to a video page on Youtube, you’ll see a tiny little settings icon on the side of the embed source code box.

If you click on the icon, a window pops open to give you several custom player options, such as:

Color
Frame size
Frame border
The ability to include related videos or not.

Check out what the player looks like in action.

A survey, conducted by PermissionTV of more than 400 senior-level decision makers, has revealed advertising, marketing and media executives will increasingly migrate from a planning and experimentation phase to significantly increase implementation of their online video initiatives in 2009.

Nearly 60 percent of respondents consider interactive video experiences to be the next evolution for online video. You can check out my post about The Follow Your INSTINCT campaign by SamsungCanadaFilms to see an interactive video example done by a company way ahead of it’s time.

The survey is full of key findings that shouldn’t shock you because after all online video is…not gonna say it…yes I am…HOT!

I love the information, innovation and humor that comes from the guys at a Permission.tv Watch the presentation video they did for the survey.
