Welcome back!
I often get asked about webcams. I don’t love web cams but certainly recognize the many uses for them.
I love Chris Pirillo! This video is basically his review of Blue Microphones Eyeball
Seriously, it’s a Microphone with a with webcam…

You’re not going to get great video quality but, as Chris mentions, in a pinch this device may come in handy.
Some of you may or may not now this but I used to play the cello. I’d like to apologize to anyone who lived close enough to hear me through my years of rehearsals. I’ve always loved the rich, almost melancholy sound that would emerge when a cello was played with passion. Although, I practiced for hours and finally became a decent player, I never could get my cello to sound like Yo-Yo Ma’s…
Last year, I spared the Youtube community the torture of hearing me play BUT more than 3,000 video auditions were submitted by musicians from all over the world, for a chance to be a part of the Youtube Orchestra. The winners have been selected by voters on YouTube and the Orchestra will make its debut at Carnegie Hall on April 15.
This is such an exciting opportunity, not just for the musicians involved but for online media and the Arts as a whole. I’m a fan of all kinds of music. It’s nice to see classical music being supported by the community once known as the mecca of UGT (user generated trash).
The Youtube Symphony Channel has been beautifully branded and features some of the most extraordinary talent online. Check it out on your next lunch break. =)
“Video snacking” describes the online trend of millions of surfers who are are in the habit of consuming snippets of video on a computer or other small screen.
A couple of months ago, I wrote a post based on the Nielsen Online Video Cenus highlighting online video viewership during work hours. (65% of viewers stream between 9am-5pm!) Recently, an article in the New York Times stated that lunchtime has become the new prime time. (I highly recommend you read the article, as it discusses video viewing trends in the workplace that are pretty remarkable.)
There are some huge numbers in online video. Big media companies have taken notice and have already created programming to capture the noontime audience.
Here are some video reporting stats published by comScore for November 2008
The audience is big and hungry. Is there a way you can start producing your own video snack show?
